Welcome!

Hello and welcome! This is a blog I've created so that Lynda and I can write about the exciting adventure we're about to undertake, as we move from our current apartment about 15 minutes away to a new, exciting apartment community at The Greene, in Beavercreek, Ohio. What's so wonderful about it? Well, if you haven't been to The Greene yet, it is a shopping, dining, and entertainment destination built around a small-town model. It has a lot of free-standing buildings, a town square, and tons of things to do. More on that later, as we hope to take all sorts of photos from around the area.

We have lived in our current location in Fairborn, Ohio, for the last six years (since November, 2000 -- wow, has it been that long already?). Although the apartment community we moved to was new at the time, repeated changes in management allowed some restrictions on rentals to slacken, and as a result, the quality of the community started to become a little less than we were comfortable with. So, starting about two years ago, when we first heard rumblings about the construction of The Greene, we kept our eyes peeled for an indication that residential space would be included as well. Currently in its first phase of construction, the apartments we are moving into are still literally coming together. Although pre-leasing began in December, 2006, we won't be able to move into our community until March or April of this year. The building we're in has stores on the first floor, and then apartments on the second, third, and fourth floors. Phase II development (to be completed sometime in 2008) may include townhouses and/or condos. We may even move to one of those units then, but first things first!

Since Lynda is the scrapbooker, I wanted a way to document the journey that was easy for me, and blogging about it was a natural choice. This way, as we eventually luxuriate in our new digs, we'll be able to look back on this blog as a virtual photo book, journal, and scrapbook all rolled into one. It will also serve as a resource for family and friends to see our progress as we go, and hopefully may inspire someone out there to come out and join us someday!

Those who know us (me, in particular) know why my nickname is Kachup. Since we're moving to The Greene, the name of this blog was just too fun to pass by. So join us at Greene|Kachup as we make our next move!
